Opera on a Plate Sat 19th Nov. Enjoy a sumptuous four course meal designed to tantalise the senses, then sit back and relax as the duo of Debra Stuart and Catherine Harper performs an operatic feast.
Debra Stuart was born in Dundee and was a prize-winningstudent at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and at the National Opera Studio.
As an operatic soloist, she has appeared throughout the UK, Ireland and abroad, singing at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, English National Opera, Opera North, Opera Theatre Company, at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, in the Netherlands, the National Theatre in Prague and Singapore Lyric Opera, singing such roles as Rosina, Hermia, Hansel and Carmen..
Catherine Harper was born in Belfast and studied at the Royal Academy of Music London. Catherine’s operatic roles include: Opera Northern Ireland, the Hen and Owl (Janacek’s The cunning Little vixen); Papagena (Mozart’s magic flute) ;Opera Theatre Company, Clarice (Haydn’s Il mondo della luna) Castleward Opera, the Countess (Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro);Yvette(Puccini’s La Rondine); Frasquita(Bizet’s Carmen) and Miss Wordsworth (Britten’s Albert Herring) and Haddo Opera, Martha.
Debra and Catherine opened the St Patrick’s day parade on 5th avenue New York as members of the Celtic Divas.
Debra and Catherine will perform a selection of opera and operetta pieces from well known writers including Lakme used as the theme tune of the British Airways advert and Barcarolle from Tales of Hoffman plus some of the more familiar and very popular Folk songs that you will all recognise. Debra and Catherine performance is relaxed with light hearted chat throughout. You will enjoy the ’marriage’ of these two wonderful voices
