Three consecutive years as the Top Scoring Restaurant in N Ireland - The Cuan receive a special award.
In 2010 The Cuan in Strangford received the highest score ever achieved in a Taste of Ulster Inspection- 98%. Well it just got better and better, 2011 it was 99% and in 2012 the elusive 100% was awarded. Peter and Caroline McErlean and their team were awarded this honour as a result of their friendly, warm service and their passion and enthusiasm for good local food. Commenting on behalf of Taste of Ulster Michele Shirlow Chief Executive said ‘Peter, Caroline and their team do not only pay lip service to the Taste of Ulster Charter, they follow it with enthusiasm and commitment and are doing a great job of upholding the reputation the membership is trying to build on. It is hoped that in the years that follow, more and more establishments strive to meet the high standards set by The Cuan’. Presenting this Special Award to The Cuan, Howard Hastings, Chairman of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board comments: “How lucky ‘Taste of Ulster’ is to have members like yourselves. Your enthusiasm for everything is wholly infectious and to see The Cuan in weather like today’s was a real treat. Thank you for inviting me down today - congratulations on your 100% achievement, the results of sustained effort by you and all your team”
